To drive in the Outback of Australia, you need a sturdy,
dependable vehicle. Nissans and Toyotas rule the desert. This is NellieBelle
and the bones are of horses and camels that died in the bush. People
asked me why I decorated Nellie with the bones. I told them that I
was a woman traveling alone and didn't want anyone messing with me
in the middle of nowhere. Would you mess with the person who drove
this truck?? |
 |
This was my other form of transportation - Duke, the
not-so-friendly camel. |
 |
This was my first attempt at riding a camel. Once
you get up, it's not so bad, but getting up is worse than a roller
coaster ride. I flew off seconds after this shot was taken. |
 |
This is what you tend to do after a full day on camel
back. |
 |
One of the many water holes out in the desert. Most
are amazingly beautiful. This one is at Trephina Gorge. |

And it wouldn't be Australia without the 'roos, would
it? Will you accept a wallaby instead? |
